A three-alarm fire gutted Burnaby‘s Marine Pub early Saturday morning.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 2:30 a.m. to find “flames pouring out of the roof,” according to Burnaby Asst. Fire Chief Bryan Kirk.

Kirk says early reports suggest the fire started at the back of the pub where some plastic deck chairs were located.

Eleven fire trucks and more than 30 firefighters were called to help contain the blaze.

Kirk says the popular local pub appears to be a “complete loss” but firefighters were able to prevent flames from spreading to a nearby beer and wine store.

No injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway.

The Marine Pub has been the home of numerous Radio West GTG's since 2007. The place was always busy, so it wasn't just us who found it to be a great meeting place.

Not only is this a loss to Marine Pub customers, but the staff is now out of work.

Suggestions for a new Radio West GTG venue are welcome, most must have a favorite spot that would work well.

Sorry you guys lost your Pub and home to the 'boys".

Try a Cactus Club - there are a lot of them and they are nice and convenient - maybe>?

How about something near a Skytrain station. It would be a lot more convenient for those without vehicles.

There's not many former Radio West GTG spots still standing ... our first GTG spot back in October of '05 out in Abbotsford with Dan, Myself, John Sykes and Jack Bennest burned to the ground.

Our next stop was in North Langley (Jimmy Mack's ... good spot, still there I think (Where we first met Mike Cleaver).

Our next stop was the place at 152nd & Fraser Hwy in Surrey that closed up with no advance notice the day before our early January GTG ...

We'll find a new home! (Thank God The Dell and The Turf are gone!)

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, we had our own "Media Club"...

It does still exist... but...

Are you paying for everyone's gas. or renting us a bus?

I know how you hate to make the trek down to the coast for the day ... seems every time you attend, there is a disaster of some kind up in Oliver.

Maybe the bus trip has some merit as long we pick up at a Sky-train location and leave from the eastern terminus

Bus with stops about five hours - so you could leave at 9am - lunch for 2 hours until four - home by 9pm

But that wouldn't be enough time to experience the ambience of Oliver.

The line up for the bus port-a-potty would be endless :pottytrain2:
