I've never heard a New Years prediction that came true. Until now.

Yesterday, my mother predicted that it would be hard to sleep last night. She was right. There was yelling in the streets here until 3:00 a.m.

Happy New Year, Everyone!

It was pretty quiet in our part of the West End, after a few fireworks.

Today, the parking lot at Sunset Beach is packed and there are a ton of people out.

Here in Edmonton, a lot more restaurants either closed all day today or opened late. The end result was that the restaurants that were open were mobbed.

For example, the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown was opened by the two local partners and a cook at 11 a.m. this morning and they quickly had to call in as many staff as they could find. Because of both the volume of people coming through the door and the number of phone calls wanting reservations for later in the day for big groups.

Lots of people on the streets and out driving, despite the snow.
