Wow! I just did the arithmetic and discovered that it was 50 years ago this year that Ted and I first met. At Armstrong Elementary School in Burnaby. And discovered our mutual interest in Radio heard on the standard Broadcast Band: 540-1600 Kilocycles in those years. Long distance reception, QSL cards and verification letters, stickers, coverage maps, record surveys, and Top 40. And the value of directional radio antennas. Together with a few others, we formed the Burnaby DX Club (BDXC) that lasted until we discovered that the International Radio Club of America (IRCA) really was a legitimate organization after all. We'd got scared away initially when the Better Business Bureau had never heard of them.

It was almost by accident that I ended up at Armstrong for that one year, Grade 7. Instead of forcing all of us Second Street Elementary School graduates into the recently opened Cariboo Hill Junior Secondary School, we were all given a choice. I was the only one who picked Armstrong, a decision I've never regretted.

And the rest is History, as they say. Happy Birthday, Ted! And many, many more!!!

On the lighter side, somehow I have a vision of a cake in the shape of a hamburger in a certain house in Burnaby today.

Greetings Everyone,
A Very Happy Birthday to you Ted (radiofan), hope you are having a great birthday and birthday dinner. I hear snow is on the way for a repeat performance in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley this weekend as the Arctic Air pushes out! They say the temperatures from this Siberian Arctic Air in Saskatchewan overnight are almost as cold as on the planet Mars!!! Well hopefully it won't be that bad out in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver. Hopefully you are having a a nice warmhearted Birthday!!! Its amazing how the years go by since I first got to know you back around 1967 or so! Hard to believe how much time has passed and so many things have happened. Glad to have done a lot with you over the years!!! All the very best Ted and many more Happy Birthdays to come as well as a great 2014 for you too! Lets hope the weather warms up too!!! Thanks for being a part of Radio West ... This next week will mark 17 years since I first started Puget Sound Radio Guide as a Geocities website. The original message board was a MSn
community website that included a chat area ... for a time we did weekly Wednesday or Thursday night chat sessions ... The message board started as an outlet for the 25 or so people
let go by Corus when NW2 was shut down to make way for Mojo Radio ... Things grew from there and in 2004 the word Guide was dropped and PSR was born. Myself and several others
didn't agree with the direction PSR was going, so Radio West came to be in April of 2006 ... Eight years later, the majority of of charter members are still here.

As always, looking forward to seeing many of you on March 9th @ The Marine Pub!
