Roger Ashby is someone who is not well known outside of Ontario. Roger worked at CHUM radio for 50 years, first at 1050 CHUM starting with all nights when he was 19 and eventually mornings on CHUM-AM and later FM. Throughout his long career he was one of Southern Ontario's most popular announcers with his pleasant humour, and easy to listen to style.

He retired from the morning show in December 2018. For years CHUM-FM had the number one morning program in Toronto with Roger, Marilyn Denis, and Rick Hodge.

On his last broadcast Roger and the CEO of Bell Media mentioned that they were planning a show for Roger after his retirement. In February of this year The Roger Ashby Oldies Show had it's debut. The three hour program is on every weekend. You'll hear great music, interviews and even some customized PAMS 60's jingles during the show.

Ashby has a "Ron Maclean" encyclopedia knowledge of top 40 music and artists. If you enjoy oldies music from roughly 1955 to 1975 and are interested in the story behind artists and songs check out the show on line. His program also rotates on iHeartRadio app and plays in 16 markets in Ontario Quebec and Halifax. Jewel radio network picks up the program every weekend, Saturdays at 4pm eastern time, and Sundays at 9am eastern.

The Roger Ashby Oldies Show is unique and highlights even secondary or B hits, or original version of songs. Music that is familiar but didn't always crack the top 30. The program also plays the required amount of cancon which is a real feat considering he features a lot of music from the 50's and 60's. You will be amazed at the long forgotten cancon gems, songs that haven't been heard in years.

Roger plays occasional regional hits from across Canada, groups like the Nocturnals, Because You're Gone, a great song that had success on radio in B C but didn't make it past the rockies into the rest of the country. He plays them all, and takes requests. He had an all request show over the May 24th weekend.

If you love oldies and music trivia, give the show a listen.
