A Week I'd Rather Forget: so many RIP's

Postby jon » Wed May 15, 2019 4:49 pm

Just hearing this afternoon of the death of my former boss, Maurice Foisy, who spent almost his entire career at CHQM. And of Bill Coull, legendary CKUA announcer, who worked with John Runge to invent a musical format for CKUA in 1964 that was surprisingly similar to the Underground format that came out of San Francisco a few years later.

Retired CFRN Chief Engineer, Bruce Bedford, has passed away on Vancouver Island, where Bill Coull had also retired. Another Edmonton Radio Engineer, Walter Buehler, just passed away. Walter handled the Radio feeds and other audio work for Edmonton Oilers games.

Then there was Joe Meyers, well known Edmonton Newsman and News Director at CJCA.

I also just discovered that the original ED-GRRR, the name of the Tiger mascot for Tiger Radio CJCA in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Ed Laurence passed away a few years ago.

As Marty Forbes just said "Make it stop!".
