Stingray Buys Two More Stations

Postby paterson » Fri May 10, 2019 7:07 pm

Is Stingray Radio vying to be the largest radio broadcast group in Canada? Today the company announced the purchase of two Welland, Ontario stations from Wellport Broadcasting/RB Communications. Pending CRTC approval Stingray will acquire the assets of CIXL Giant FM and CKYY Country 89. With this purchase Stingray is closing in on Bell Media as the country's largest broadcaster in terms of stations owned.

Giant FM has a classic rock format and covers the Niagara Region and parts of Western NY. Country 89 is a relatively new station signing on about 4 years ago and is nominated for radio station of the year from the Country Music Association of Ontario.
