More Bell Lay-offs?

Postby Tom Jeffries » Tue Nov 17, 2015 2:30 pm

I hear that BELL has cut Dave Biro and more than a few on Van Isle and some in Vancouver and more in TO and Montreal.

Do you have the same info? More?

This is a trend that seems to be gathering steam.

Check out the layoffs at TSN and more. Perry Solkowski, Michael Cuss, OUT at CTV and more.

Ottawa - huge cuts.

It's insane.

A very VERY dark day for Bell Media employees indeed with the axe swinging in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa (upwards of 20 people cut at each location is what I'm hearing).

Add that to the 380 jobs they said they'd be eliminating in Toronto and Montreal...

What a great time to be in broadcasting.

From this morning's Broadcast Dialogue:

Rob Chambers, the director of engineering at CTV Vancouver, was caught in the Bell Media restructuring. Chambers began at CTV Edmonton in 1992 as a transmitter technician just after he turned 20. He moved to Vancouver in 1995 and joined CTV Vancouver in ‘97 as its senior engineer. In 2009 he was promoted to his most recent position. Chambers earned three Emmy Awards for technical achievement for his work with NBC during the 2000, 2002, and 2004 Olympics...

I am still flummoxed about the end of "Forbes and Marshall".

These guys are great.

How come the expensive managers aren't chopped?

Life as a Radio Pro was a stress monster when I was in the game, but now? Unreal.

Get another career, is my best advice.

It's a pretty damn sorry state of affairs when we have to separate the various significant slaughters into separate threads... just to keep them all straight. Or when there's nothing better to comment on than which one of them the comments should go into. :towel:
