Longtime CKNW Copy Chief Tony Antonias passes

Postby radiofan » Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:47 pm

Just got word that former longtime CKNW Copy Chief Tony Antonias passed away earlier this afternoon.

Tony was at the station from the mid 1950s until the late 1980s. He is best know for creating the Woodward's $1.49 Day jingle along with The Wiard Of Wosk's jingle and many others.

No further details at this time.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

One way of remembering Tony is to read the Eve Lazarus blog Every Place Has A Story. About a year ago, February 17/2018, Eve profiled Tony's creation of the "$1.49 Day Tuesday" Woodward's jingle.

I commented at the time that Tony was responsible for one of the finest "ear worm" jingles ever. And played a part in developing what became a world class jingle-making Mecca in Vancouver.

Rest in peace, Tony.
