Postby jon » Sat Dec 31, 2011 8:19 am

As it says in Today in History, Hal Weaver died exactly 40 years ago today, on December 31, 1971. Here is a nice set of Hal pictures: http://www.edmontonbroadcasters.com/VZ/weaverh.html

And here is the corresponding entry in Broadcasters by Letter on EdmontonBroadcasters.com:
Hal Weaver (Harold) - DJ CKRD Red Deer; evenings CJCA Edmonton 1964-65; CHLO St. Thomas, Ontario 1965; CKOC Hamilton 1967; CHUM Toronto 1968-70; CJOR Vancouver 1970; morning drive CKVN Vancouver 1970-71. Died of cancer on December 31, 1971 at age 28 in Surrey, B.C.

Those of you who remember Hal, whether personally, or on-air, may wish to comment.

When I worked at CKVN - always felt 1900 West 4th was haunted by Hal Weaver. I started 4 months after he passed.

The old control room - you faced in towards the center, back to the door.
I worked all nights and more than a few times, I felt I was not alone, if you know what I mean.

It was an amazing place and everytime I drive by the Thrift Store it has become, it makes me sad.

Thanks for remembering Hal.
