Don Kalmokoff Passes

Postby radiofan » Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:57 pm

Dave Glasstetter has passed along word that Don Kalmokoff (Mr Aristocart for those with good memories) passed away November 11 after a long fight with cancer. Don and his crew of CKNW engineers which
included Doug Court, Jack Gordon, Dick DiPalma and Dave Glasstetter invented the Aristocart in the early 1970's when CFMI's IGM Automation system had problems playing stereo music on the old Fidelipac
cartridges. The Aristocart quickly became the industry standard and they were bought by stations worldwide up until the mid 1990's. Don ran the Aristocart factory in McBride Plaza until he retired in the early
1990s.

Condolences to Don's family and friends.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
