Reading about this, I found myself saying “Thank YOU", out loud, a few times - because of the many SAFE years, my Traffic reporter(s) would be whizzing about the GTA - (*Russ Holden is STILL doing 680 News Traffic in TO - and he was, when I was there. How many KM’s? Astounding). For KISS-FM over the Lower Mainland, JoAnne Sutton, or Kate Rebak would be up there, in a peeny helicopter and it is not without it’s perils, as we see here.

Condolences to the Helicopter crews Families and to the extended Broadcast Families at KOMO and KING.

This is just terrible news.. Glad it was not worse.

Very sad story. I saw it on the morning news. One of those moments in time where everything is as it should be and then it's not. I feel for their families, friends and workmates. I'm sure it's a very somber day around KOMO and all radio and TV stations in Seattle. My condolences.

Traffic reporting by air is a risky business. My dear departed friend Tom Rivers (CHUM Toronto/CFTR TO) worked briefly at K-100 in LA in 1975 and the traffic reporter there was the famous U-2 Spyplane pilot Gary Powers who was shot down over the former Soviet Union in 1959 or 60. He was tried as a spy (by that fair system that hasn't changed a hell of a lot in 70 years) and was eventually released in exchange for an East Bloc spy the US was holding.

Sadly, Francis Gary Powers was killed in a chopper crash (he was pilot and reporter) over LA.

Very sad day, especially because of the kindred relationship the Vancouver media has always had with the media in that beautiful Emerald City to the south.

Condoilences to everyone in the KOMO family at Fisher Plaza.

Kudos to Morning Anchors Gregg and Manda along with Traffic Reporter Paul Tosch and everyone else who was a part of Tuesday Morning's coverage on KOMO AM.

I happened to tune into KOMO about two minutes after the crash and stayed listening for several hours. As always, a superb job by the folks at KOMO, especially considering their station
and some long time colleagues were the news of the day.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
