A notice to former CFRO contributors and staff
Co-op Radio is celebrating the 35th anniversary of our first
broadcast. We are holding a special birthday party for some of our
“pioneers” (both existing and former programmers who were around in
the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s).
This will be a casual affair again in the same location as last year:
the Radio Station Café, right beside the station. We will provide
light refreshments, birthday cake and lots of opportunities for
reminiscing.
This year, during the party, we will also be broadcasting a live
special from the studio to celebrate Co-op Radio’s history. The show
will be hosted by the president of our board, Marc Lindy and will be
part of our Spring Member Drive special programming. We invite you to
be a part of this on-air special by coming on air for a few minutes to
share a story, an audio clip (cassettes are OK but we can’t play reels
anymore!) or a song from when you were at the station.
At this year’s gathering we will also be commemorating our dear friend
and long-time contributor to the station, Peter Royce, who passed away
in November of last year. We will be unveiling a plaque in his honour
and will be officially naming our control room after him. Peter was
one of our Program Co-ordinators, a former Board Member, the president
of CRES and a long-time contributor on Redeye.
We would be very happy if you could join us for this very special event.
