Ah, the pop bottles so precariously close to invaluable equipment... ;)

Care to explain the "cube"?

Nice cheap microphones.
EV 665, the grey version of the chrome EV 664.
The only difference was the 665 had a cannon connector and different finish.
Love the clothing too, that piped jacket and those plaid pants, all the rage in the mid '70's!

I never worked there, but I remember someone mentioning "the cube" ..
it was used by the board op to let the on air talk show host know what line to go to for the next caller.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Chuck Cook looking somewhat Les Nessman-ish in his photo don't you think?
If only there was a band-aid somewhere on his person, that would make it complete.

Exactly. And when the station moved out of the Grosvenor and into the new building, Burns refused to look at the computer screen that told him what line was next. So we still had to use the cube on his show and it remained in the station until the change to CHRX.

Several people wanted to take it home as a souvenir; I don't remember who got it.

Thanks for the pictures, tuned. Keith Frew looks like he's just out of high school.

That is quite a blazer Denny Boyd has on, even for the 70's.

In fact, it's so over-the-top, I think it could be part of some sort of Variety Club functionary wardrobe.
(either that, or somebody stole his concertina and poisoned the monkey).

Denny was always adrift in the sartorial sea.

... and the plaid pants worn by both Arnie Epp and Bill Joyner?

Like Boyd's corduroy jacket, that's just the style of the day...

That's one thing nobody should be nostalgic for is those striped and plaid pants.

I very much doubt I'd ever be able to get into them again even if I did. :)

Ah, but Russ... Don't you just miss double-knit polyester? ;)
