CKLW Aircheck - Ed Mitchell Jan 1970

A look back at various radio stations

CKLW Aircheck - Ed Mitchell Jan 1970

Postby Anotherwpgguy » Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:02 am

Afternoon drive shift with Ed Mitchell at what was then the 5th largest circulation radio station in North America, just behind WABC New York, WLS Chicago, KHJ Los Angeles, and WIBG Philadelphia .... "CKLW, The Big 8."

Interesting to hear Bob Lozier, reporter for CNN doing "CKLW .... first in the Motor City with 20-20 News."

Some Canuck is the Board Op.

Shortly after this aircheck was recorded, "Mitchell" was to move to "93, KHJ" Los Angeles as "Mark Elliot."

This isn't the Ed Mitchell that was at CKLG in the mid 70's is it?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

I would be almost certain it's not.
Mark Elliot still hasn't left LA although he's no longer on the air and hasn't been so for decades.
Doing the voice-over thing like legions of other ex rock jocks or so I last heard.
"You don't know man! I was in radio man! I've seen things you wouldn't believe!"

Believe me, the CKLG Ed Mitchell should not be confused with the CKLW Ed Mitchell.
