Kelowna's 103.9 The Lake is on the air

Postby radiofan » Fri Mar 26, 2021 10:48 am

This morning at 10:39, Kelowna's newest radio station 103.9 The Lake (CKOV) hit the airwaves. On March 31, 2020 Soft 103.9 (CKOO) announced it was ceasing operation and would be off the air in the next few days. In recent months, Paul Larsen bought the assets of the defunct station. Today, he has not only brought the station back to life, but he has also returned the CKOV call letters to the Kelowna airwaves. In the coming weeks, the airstaff will be assembled.

Congratulations to Paul and his staff!

Loved the "Kelowna's Soft Rock has MOVED to 103.9" ID. Get a kick out of that old-school competition calling-out.

Thank you Paul Larsen for launching a station in Kelowna that appeals to someone 50+ like myself. The past twelve months has been tough.

So refreshing to finally have something local that will grow with the market rather than the corporate radio that seems to do nothing but slash and burn just to please the shareholders and fill the airwaves with out of market voice tracking.

I wish you nothing but success with 103.9 The Lake!

I agree with Sparky. Nice to have a station that goes beyond a couple of decades and more than 200 songs on its playlist. Good luck Paul & co.

It will be interesting to see how it will sound once they are past the launch programming and playing the right amount of CanCon, as I recall that license is 40%, that's a lot of Bublé.
