"Real" Roy Hennessy discovers his past, and saves a life.

What a story by Daphne Bramham in yesterday's Vancouver Sun about the complicated family history of former CKLG Boss Jock Roy Hennessy. His determination to know more about his origin led to the mother he'd never known and the brother he didn't know he had. And that brother ultimately saved the life of Roy's son.

Wonderfully written story.

Daphne and John Mackie are about the only great legacy writers left at the Sun. Pete McMartin retired a few months ago. Before that, Shelley Fralic packed it in. If I recall, she did the feature on the death of Fred Latremouille.

I'm sure there's capable replacements in the ranks. But one wonders if they'll be able to write about personalities of yore with the same eye to detail as these departed or soon-to-be gone Sun greats.
