A breath of fresh, country air comes to Kamloops
Country 103 to Launch with 1,031 Continuous, Country Favourites on August 11th


June 30th 2006, Kamloops, B.C.:

The wait is almost over for Country music fans in Kamloops and the South Central Interior. CJKC Country 103.1FM will be hitting the airwaves on Friday, August 11th at 1:03pm with 1,031 continuous songs.

The first official on-air shift begins Monday, August 14th at 6am with morning show host, Howie Reimer. Kelly Moore, Program Director, will take over the reins for the midday show at 10am, followed by afternoon drive show host, Brad Russell, at 2pm. Rounding out the on-air crew will be morning news anchor, Brett Mineer, and weekend announcer, Louis McIvor.

Benchmark weekly shows on Saturdays and Sundays will include Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40, The Country 103 Canadian Countdown, The Jeff Foxworthy Countdown, and Hugh McLennan's "Spirit Of The West."

The Country 103 Studios have already been graced by visits from Shane Yellowbird and Marlee Scott of 306 Records, both nominated for CCMA Rising Star Awards at this year's Gala Event in Saint John, New Brunswick.

I thought they would have tied the launch in with the Meritt Mountain Music Festival [2 weeks from now]. They'd have a captive country audience there.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Maybe they want to work out any bugs first.

Is this a new station or an old one with new call-letters?

Brand new station granted to the folks at NL.

Once it's up and running it should do well, Kamloops has been lacking a country station for a few years nows.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
